It's Fri-yay! And my first Friday Favs with the new design :) Here we go!

  1. Anthropology hits the Upper East Side in Wednesday Martin's upcoming book Primates of Park Avenue. This book has been making waves through the media this week for it's smart look into the real lives of some of the Upper East Side's most elite women. I've never pre-ordered a book before but after hearing about this one on the radio with talk of 'housewife bonuses' and blow-outs just to drop the kids off at school, I have to say I'm curious.
  2.  Belmont Stakes is only a week away! I go every year but had to think long and hard if I wanted to go this year after last year's epic transportation issues on the way home. Alas, I'm sucking it up and praying that this year I won't have a 3 year commute back to the city... Anyways, Belmont is doing things a little differently this year to try and avoid a repeat and now you have to buy tickets ahead of time. They're capping attendance for the first time as well as including concerts post event to try and stagger when attendees leave. So if you want to go make sure to buy tickets ahead of time because they're planning that they will sell out before race day.
  3. $30 for a hot dog? Forget about it! Hotdog vendors have been in the news lately because a vendor was caught charging $30 for hot dogs, yep you heard that right. Have no fear though the city is cracking down on sketchy food-carts so that you can enjoy your dirty dogs on a friendlier budget.
  4. What really makes New York bagels, the 'best'? This video finally helps us get to the bottom of it, science and all.
  5. Manhattanhedge is backkkk. The event that happens twice a year is hitting the city for it's Spring appearance TONIGHT! So if you're looking for some perfectly aligned sunset photos, tonight is the night.

It’s that time again.. Friday Favs! Check out what is in store for this week’s round-up.

  1. A constant argument amongst New Yorkers. What is really cheaper… Uber or Yellow Cabs? Well, luckily for you Forbes released an article this week on a mission to get to the bottom of the debate.
  2. For the last month I’ve been busy at work planning for the Tribeca Film Festival for a client and now we’re only a week out! Part of what I’ve been so busy with is planning some great social media sweepstakes that will be taking place over the next few weeks. We’re giving away everything from film screening passes, Vesey passes and even a meet and greet with Robert De Niro. So if you’re interested in attending, definitely check out VDKA 6100′s social media accounts! FacebookTwitter, and Instagram
  3. Neighbors living in NYC aren’t always pleasant.. but you will probably appreciate yours a lot more after reading this article from Thrillist.
  4. For all you baseball fans, baseball is officially back! While it’s not my favorite sport… I am a fan of the food at the games so it’s a day worth celebrating! In fact, if the weather cooperates I’ll be heading up to Yankee Stadium this evening. Helloooo garlic cheesies!
  5. This week One World Trade Center announced the opening date for the observation center to the public. It’s set to open on May 29th and is said to have an elevator that will take you from the ground to the 102nd floor in less than 60 seconds.

Enjoy your Friday lovelies!

I’m so thankful it’s Friday! After working 11 days in a row with my day job, I realllyyyy needed a weekend to slow down a little bit, and sleep in! So here’s a look at some of my favorites from the week!

  1. One of my favorite blogs to read Kelly in the City posted about this really cool one-second-a-day video her husband made over the last year and I really love the concept! It seems like such an awesome way to look back on your year day-by-day at the significant and maybe insignificant parts that sometimes get forgotten. Check out her post on the video and if you’re inspired to make your own, you can do so through the 1 Second Everyday app!
  2. The plunging temps in the city this week — including the wind chills of -20 last night — have turned the city into Elsa’s winter wonderland and the people aren’t the only ones freezing. Turns out the fountain in Bryant Park got a little bit of the icy treatment this week too.
  3. Okay, one more thing about the cold weather and then I swear I’m done ;-) The temps have been so low that there have been Snowy Owls spotted in the city! Owls that normally live in the arctic! Thanks "Siberian Express" air, NYC is colder than Antarctica and attracting arctic animals now. Now how do we get some penguins up here?!
  4. Want to feel really broke for a second? Check out these digs. This 1-bedroom Upper East Side apartment is renting out for more per month than most houses cost. For a pretty penny of 300k a month, you too can live in this 1200 square foot apartment penthouse at The Surrey
  5. Miss P has been on a tour of NYC since winning Best in Show earlier in the week in the city. She celebrated with some steak, met Michael Kors and even went to the top of the Empire State Building! I’d say the pup is having a good week!
