Farewell Colorful Studio
Anna Osgoodby Life + Design : Colorful NYC Studio Apartment Tour

Since life was a little cray when we moved and I didn't have time to do a proper goodbye post for my studio, I'm doing a little #ThrowbackThursday today!

While everything turned out just fine (as it usually does) I was pretty sad to say farewell to my colorful little studio! It was my second solo apartment, and will definitely go down as one of my favorites! Bright colors, cute little balcony, subway tile, and a dishwasher, oh heck yes! Living in luxury in NYC 😂

It was also unfortunately the second apartment I've lived in that the landlord ended up selling the building 😳. NYC real estate is no joke guys.. So today I'm giving it one last hurrah to share some of my final decor dets before it got boxed up!

The perk to living in an apartment that is basically just a big rectangle is helloooooo wall space for a BIG gallery wall! Haha, I'm a sucker for a good gallery wall so I filled this baby up.

Something I've adopted in multiple apartments now, is my washi tape wall designs! Such an easy way to add some color or dose of excitement to your walls and it's just as easy to peel off when you move. Ideal for renters like me!

Another fun touch in the studio was my "confetti wall" above my bar cart. To add a little fun to that wall I got 2 different types of gold paper and used a die cut punch to create the little circles. Pop a little double sticky tape on them and wa-lah confetti wall!

I also had the most adorable little balcony that I LOVED! The perk to being on the top floor was there was nothing above me too -- the one perk to living on a 5th floor walk-up! Haha. In true Anna fashion, the balcony was just about as colorful as the apartment!

Little colorful studio, you are missed! Especially my extra dose of girliness, or as Chris referred to it as my "barbie dream house" decor. Well, that's a wrap! If you missed the apartment tour of the new digs make sure you check it out here too!

Blogging Through the City :: Lily Sage of Sage Beauty
Anna Osgoodby Life + Design Blogging Through the City NYC Blogger Series :: Lily Sage of NYC Beauty Sage Beauty

I'm so excited to kick-off a new feature of blog called "Blogging Through the City" highlighting other awesome bloggers in the big apple. I got to meet the truly delightful Lily Sage of Sage Beauty at Lovely Happenings' Fall Event and I'm so excited to introduce you to her

AO: Tell us about yourself! How long have you been blogging and why did you decide to start Sage Beauty?

LS: I have been writing Sage Beauty for two and half years. I have always had a passion for beauty, fashion, and writing, and I have been a makeup artist and beauty expert for most of my career.  So I decided to create a blog where I could share all my tips and help women look and feel fabulous. Since I started the blog I also share my love of knitting, places I travel to, personal observations, and recipes in addition to beauty and style.

AO: How long have you lived in city and what are some of your favorite things about being a NYC blogger?

LS: I have lived in NYC for ten years! I’m proud to hit my decade mark this year.  I fall in love with the city more and more every year because it has an abundance of art, fashion, and music. To me, New York is a place that fosters creativity and originality. Being a blogger in NYC has allowed me to be find out about the newest trends first, to meet the people who have created my favorite brands, and to not be afraid to try new things and share it all with my readers.

AO: Do you have any favorite experiences you’ve had while being a blogger that you may not have had otherwise?

LS: One of my favorite experiences was meeting Miko Branch, one of the co-founders of Miss Jessie’s! It’s a brand I love and it was such an amazing experience to learn from her. I admire her so much as a female entrepreneur and leader in the beauty industry.

AO: Where do you find inspiration for your blog? Do you have any favorite posts you have written?

LS: Many of my post ideas come from my everyday life or a beauty question from a client or friend.  When I discover a product I really love I can’t wait to share it, or when I keep getting asked about recommendations for specific products (foundation or eye cream), or shopping tips I put it in a blog post because I’m sure other women would love to have that knowledge as well. I also love writing about products that are unexpected. I recently did a blog post on the benefits of sleeping on a silk pillowcase. I have seen such a difference in my skin and hair since I started using it.

AO: You share so many amazing beauty and fashion tips on your blog. Where are some of your favorite places to shop in the city or to pick up items for your beauty DIYs?

LS: I love doing beauty DIY posts because I grew up learning so many fun and effective homemade beauty treatments from my grandmother. For DIY posts my first stop is usually Whole Foods to pick up natural and organic ingredients that are great for head to toe beauty such as Coconut Oil or Shea Butter. When I am shopping for beauty products I love going to Blue Mercury which carries many of my favorite beauty brands, and sometimes I discover new or hard to find brands there as well.

AO: You have such fun style and your makeup always looks just gorgeous. If you had to pick 3 of your top beauty or fashion tips what would they be?

LS: Thank you for the compliment ☺ That’s such a great question! My top three tips would be:

  • There is a perfect shade of red lipstick for everyone. Don’t be afraid try out a bold red lip; it’s classic, polished, and it easily transitions from day to night.

  • Beautifully maintained brows are a must. They frame the face and give an instant lift. Your eye makeup will also look better.

  • We wear a lot of black in NYC, but I love wearing color all year round. Some easy ways to add some color into your wardrobe are with your accessories. If I’m wearing a little black dress I accessorize with a printed clutch or colorful heels.

AO: You are just fantastic and I know my readers will also LOVE your blog as much as I do. Where can they connect with you?

AO: You’re also going to be sharing a fun guest blog coming up that I can’t wait for. Can you give my readers a little sneak peek of what’s to come?

LS: I’m so excited to share with your readers one of my favorite stores to shop at for home décor ideas, beauty, and fashion all in one post, along with some tips for adding a bit of glamour to your bathroom.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for tuning in everyone and a special thanks to Lily for collabing on this post!

#FallSyllabus with Warby Parker

Raise your hand if you're a fan of Warby Parker! I can already see a lot of hands up out there! If you've had any experience with the brand you know that they're seriously awesome. Not only are they known to have super cute frames, but people also love them for their Home Try-On program that let's you have frames shipped to your home to try our for 5 days for free! Another reason people love them? They're seriously loyal to their customers and take customer service serious! I mean have you seen their social media accounts!? They kill it! And working in social I like to think I know a thing or two about that ;-)

While I've always admired the brand, this was actually my first experience with them directly so I was pretty excited when I connected with their team about their #FallSyllabus campaign. My friends have been singing Warby Parker's praises for years, but since I don't wear glasses I've never really had a direct experience with their products -- which btw if you didn't already know they also sell sunglasses no prescription necessary!

To celebrate Warby Parker's Fall 2015 line I got out and about in some of their frames for my #FallSyllabus photo shoot to celebrate some of my favorite parts of the season!

Fall has always been my favorite season in NYC. The weather is just perfect.. Boots are back in season and hellooo fall colors!  Here's a look at some of my favorite things about fall.

Pumpkins

After a long spring and summer, fall marks the first part of the year where we can start decorating again, which I clearly love! As soon as October hits you can count on seeing pumpkins placed upon people's stoops and in their windows and I just love it! In case you missed my post last week too I have a seriously fun DIY pumpkin project for you. Yay pumpkins!

Time at the Park

I'm really lucky to live half a block from one park and only a short walk to Central Park so I really enjoy spending a lot of time at the park in the fall. I love watching the colors of the leaves change and now that the weather is more bearable Scooter enjoys having extended walks!

Hats

I haven't always been a hat kind of girl, but I really can't get enough of them this fall! Felt hats, knit hats, straw hats.. count me in for all of the above! So perfect for the city!

Fall Flowers

One of my favorite parts about living in the city is that there are flowers on almost every block. Bonus, they're surprisingly pretty affordable here which might surprise you..  $12 for two dozen roses?! Oh yes! I always look forward to fall's sunflowers being they're something a little different than my normal selection and they always brighten up my space (because it's not bright enough ;-))

And there you have it! Some of my favorite things about fall! I had so much fun taking these Warby Parker styles for a spin and I really fell in love with the Reilly in Marzipan Tortoise pair! To find out more about any of the styles I tried out or to check out some of the other selections that Warby Parker offers make sure to check out their website!

**Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this review. I partnered with the Warby Parker team to be apart of their #FallSyllabus campaign and used their Home Try-On program to try the frames for my post. This post and all opinions stated are based on my own ideas and honest experience with the products.
