5 Home Office Must-Haves for Entrepreneurs & Bloggers
Anna Osgoodby Life + Design : 5 Home Office Must-Haves for Entrepreneurs & Bloggers

If there's one place I spend most of my time these days, it's my home office! Well, if we're being totally honest here it's really just my desk, but you get my drift! My desk has been getting a lot of action these days because it's where I get down to biz for Bold & Pop and my blog. So today I wanted to highlight some of my home office must-haves!

Cute Decor & Office Supplies

First things first, if you're going to be working from home or just spending a lot of late nights at your desk it has to be cute right?! The answer is YES if I'm highlighting it on my blog! 😉 No matter if you have a legit home office or just a little corner like me, having fun decor that showcases your personality can make such a difference! You want your space to feel inspiring so make sure to fill it with some of your favorites.

For me, I like to have my space filled with lots of color, things that inspire me and a dash of glitter. Same goes for your office supplies. I'm such a sucker for an adorable notebook or notepads, pens and you know I have to have a cute planner! Plus because I'm always looking for a good deal I find more of my finds at Target, Marshalls or TJ's! Cute and budget-friendly is always a win in my book. Don't forget about a cute desktop wallpaper too!

Vision Board

You may have caught my post earlier this year on creating my first vision board and here it is! Since I have a small space, this puppy is always staring me right in the face, which has worked out well. Entrepreneurship is such a rollercoaster ride so I really LOVE having this right in front of me. It helps remind me what I'm working for on the tough days and gets me excited when I realize I just crushed a goal. If you've never put together a vision board for your biz or blog I totally recommend trying it out! Mindset is so key to accomplishing your goals and my vision board has really helped me.

Fresh Flowers

Another one of my favorite things for my desk are fresh flowers! I absolutely love having fresh flowers in the apartment #AdultingSoHard. They always lift my mood and make my work space smell amazing. Plus they totally come in handy for styled branding shoots or for social media props. I got extra spoiled with my arrangement this week from the flower delivery company Ode à la Rose too. How gorg are these?!

Water Bottle & Flavored Water

Something I've been working on lately is drinking more water. I get so in the zone with my work that I realized some days I was going almost all day without drinking any water. I know... I know.. that's bad. So something I've been working on is filling up my water bottle each night along with fruits or herbs -- loving cucumber and mint right now and then keeping it at my desk each day. I realized if I have water in front of me I'll drink it like a fish so it's officially one of my must-haves now. Staying hydrated is so important so it's officially one of my must-haves.

Storage Options

And last but not least... to have a functional home office you need to have places to store your things. Besides some business essentials, most of my storage space is dedicated to props for styled photos. And while I dream of one day having a full props closet, for now I'm just thankful to have my own closet in the apartment 😂 So not exactly in the cards right now. Until then, I've invested in some cute storage boxes and felt cubes where I can keep things accessible but also keep things tidy.

My must-haves are all about creating an inspiring space where I enjoy spending time at and that functions well. Do you have any other home office must-haves?  Be sure to share in the comments with your favs!

The Waffle Dog Takes NYC at Kings of Kobe

I have some serious noms for you on the blog today and today's feature does not disappoint! I'm talking about Kings of Kobe, Hell's Kitchen spot for hot dogs and home of the drumroll.... waffle dog! Say what?!?! After seeing this delicious delight featured on The Chew, I knew I had to head down to the spot and check them out over the weekend. After Chris and I checked out the menu online (with our mouths watering) we realized we not only had to try the waffle dog but also about everything else on the menu. So for the next 3 days Chris and I planned out the different combos of exactly we were going to order. #SoSerious

Finally the weekend had arrived and it was GO time! We ordered a total feast, including two of their hot dogs -- the Manhattanite and Sweet Munchies. As you can see these aren't just any dogs either.. The Manhattanite is topped with caramelized apples, frisee, shaved cheddar, wasabi aioli and the Sweet Munchies has cola soaked caramelized onions and cream cheese -- getting a little of that Seattle flavor! Not only were these totally unique, but the hot dogs are dang good just on their own.

Because I'm also 28 going on 6 we definitely had to order a side of their mac and cheese balls, which were delicious. Even more awesome? They came with garlic aioli. My cheesy and garlic dreams have combined! You know me too.. I'm all about awesome condiments that take foods to the next level.

And then... without further ado... there was.... the waffle dog! Which can we just talk about what a genius idea this is? After day-dreaming about this little treat all week it 100% lived up to all of my food dreams. To make this genius creation even better it comes with a spicy maple syrup dip. Holy noms!!! Guys, if you live in, around or anywhere near NYC, you need to get your butt over to Kings of Kobe and try their deliciousness for yourself!

Sleeping Better in the City that Never Sleeps
Anna Osgoodby Life + Design : Sleeping Better in the City that Never Sleeps -- Tips for Getting a Better Night's Sleep

I may live in the city that never sleeps, but that doesn't mean we don't need it! Although sometimes I wish we didn't because I could use some extra hours in the day! 😉 The truth is I am SUCH a night owl, and that trend has only gotten worse since becoming an entrepreneur. I mean how can I shut my laptop down when I get hit with an awesome idea at midnight...?? Spoiler... I don't and then I stay up until the wee hours of the night. Yeah, about that. So one of my goals for 2017 has been to work on going to a bed at a decent hour and trying to get some quality rest! Maybe that sounds like a funny goal to have but the struggle is real! I've been making some great progress so far too so today I'm sharing some of the changes I have made and hopefully some will help you too!

Going to Bed at a Consistent Time

Most people have alarms set for getting up in the morning.. well, I also have one for going to bed. I'm really great at finding any reason possible to not go to bed so setting an alarm helps get me to that first step... actually getting into bed! Setting an alarm has been super helpful in helping me at least start to power down for the night.

Black-Out Curtains

Surprisingly enough, my neighborhood in the city is pretty quiet. Go Upper East Side! Plus our apartment is on the back of the building which really helps. The most distracting part of getting to sleep for me isn't sound, but rather the lights! No matter what time it is, there is always someone who has their lights on. So to combat this issue I picked up a set of black-out curtains and wa-lah our bedroom is officially as dark as a cave at night. On top of being a night owl, I also have a tough time falling asleep so this has really helped a lot!

Leaving the Phone out of the Bedroom

This tip has been so key for me! After working in the PR industry for so many years I felt like my phone had to be glued to my hand at all times. It was the last thing I looked at before I went to bed and the first thing I looked at in the morning, which was so draining and pretty terrible for my sleep. You know the Vick's commercial about replying to emails in her sleep? Let's just say that hits close to home 😂. Now that I'm on my own, I've found a better balance for my client relationships and it turns out no one has died from not hearing from me in the middle of the night! Plus, now when I go to bed, I actually go to bed instead of wasting another hour on Instagram or whatever else on my phone. If you can leave your phone and other sleep distractions outside of your bedroom, do it!

Quality Bedding

Another thing that is so important to getting a good night's rest is quality bedding! I mean we do spend a third of our lives asleep after all! The awesome people over at Live Comfortably sent me a bed set complete with a mattress padpillows and a comforter to make my bed a little cozier and boy did it ever! In general I'm not a very picky person, but as you may have noticed from this post sleep is the one exception to that rule!

That being said, I must admit I've been super impressed with their products so far. Sometimes new pillows can take a while to break in and are a little firm, but their pillows were the perfect balance of support and fluffiness right out of the bag (which btw, when pillows come in their own zipped bags you know they're legit. True story, when we were making the bed with everything, Chris grabbed the pillow, curled up on the bed and tried to get out of helping with the rest because he didn't want to give it up. So I'd say he's definitely a fan too!

My mattress was pretty comfy already, but the mattress pad has added an extra layer of comfiness too which is fabulous. Another bonus of the mattress pad is it has actually helped keep our sheets on a little better too. I don't know what crazy ninja moves Chris does in his sleep but he always manages to pull the sheets off the corners of his side of the bed so this has been a nice bonus. I'm also loving the new comforter! The weight is a great combination of being warm enough for our cold winters, but not overly heavy. Which is perfect because we should be able to use it year-round instead of having to swap things out. Def a perk when you're living in a small apt with limited storage! One of my favorite features is that it has sewn sections so that the fill remains even throughout! No one wants a lumpy comforter right!?

All and all, after testing out the products for a week or so I can already feel the difference quality bedding can make. Plus, now that my bed feels like a big fluffy cloud it will definitely entice me a little bit more to actually go to bed.I'd definitely recommend checking out Live Comfortably if you're looking to upgrade and get a better night's sleep!

Putting Your Clock out of Sight

Last but not least, I suggest putting your clock out of sight. This one might not be for everyone.. but for me it has really helped! When I couldn't sleep I'd just stare at the clock and count the hours of sleep I'd get if I fell asleep at that moment. Maybe I'm the only crazy person who has done this, but just in case I'm not give this tip a try! All that I do is rotate my clock to the side when I get into bed so that I can't see the numbers. Or if you have the luxury of living in an apt bigger than our little NYC apartment, you could also move your clock across the room. I know it sounds silly, but not having a clock stare at you in the face can help ease your stress and help you get to sleep faster.

And there you have it, my tips for getting a better night's sleep! Making sleep a priority has already made such a difference for me and hope it will do the same for you!
