Off to Brooklyn I Go

The longer I live here, the more people I know that are moving across the river to Brooklyn. Most of them head there for better deals on rent, in search of more space, or for an escape from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.

I’m a little torn on the subject because when I moved here I have always said if I was going to live in New York I couldn’t imagine living anywhere other than Manhattan. Which, is still true. It is a tough argument to go up against when you see the size of my friend’s apartments in Brooklyn though.. Some are double the size of ours for $4-600 less. It also gives off more of a community feel than other places in the city.

Over the last two weekends, I’ve ventured to Williamsburg twice to visit a couple of my friends so I’ve started to get a better feel for the area. The area is a very easy commute from downtown Manhattan so it doesn’t feel to far from the city, but far enough to have a different feel.

One thing I really love about the area is the views! The one cool thing about being outside of Manhattan is a lot of the places have GORGEOUS views of the city. The picture below is from my friend’s roof. Pictures really can’t do it justice.. but if I could wake up to that view every day you can bet I wouldn’t mind living there!
