Subway Mixing :: Chip Don't Go

As you know.. I’m an avid Oregon Ducks football fan and love to plug them whenever I get a chance, and that time is now! In case you aren’t as big of a college football junkie as me, my Ducks went to the Fiesta Bowl this year and rumors were swirling all over the place that it would probably be our head coach’s, Chip Kelly, last game with us before leaving for the NFL. When you’re good in college, the pros want you and let’s be honest, Chip is the man.

Before making his final decision, Mat Kearney (who is fantastic) wrote a song dedicated to good old Chip. I’d like credit it with having some influence on him too since after Chip decided to stay, Mat posted a photo of him and Chip with the caption “Chip didn’t go”. 2 weeks later I still can’t get enough so I had to share!

Even after 3 interviews with NFL teams, Chip decided he wasn’t ready to leave the U of O after all. (Thanks Uncle Phil!) Yayyy! BREAKING NEWS: I think I may have jinxed us.. As soon as I posted this blog, news broke the next afternoon that Chip may have indeed decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. :( Regardless, it’s still an awesome song.

Kicking Off 2013!

After my parents left, I spent the day.. Resting! Those parentals wore me out ;-) A day in bed snuggling with Scoots, wasting time online was just what the doctor ordered before getting ready to kick off 2013! After a successful New Year’s party last year in Brooklyn at my friend’s apartment, they decided to host again this year. So happy to skip the outrageous covers and drink prices of Manhattan and just spend some quality time with good friends! Here are some snapshots of our night!

Can you believe this was my third New Year’s Eve with this guy?! ^^

The NYC Fab 4!

So here’s cheers to a new year!

Merry and Bright :: Day 6

…And just like that we were onto my parents last full day in the city, before their early wake-up call and travels back to Washington on the next day.

My parents started the day by taking a stroll through the park and by John Lennon’s old house and the Strawberry Fields memorial.

After they hit up the park, I met up with my parents at the Roosevelt Island tram. After taking a ride earlier this year, I thought it was something cool to take them on. Plus, it’s free!

From there we headed back to the financial district to visit the 9/11 Memorial.

The day we went down there was nice, but very windy! My parents were trying to take a few photos of the fountains and then they were getting showered on from the wind picking up some water.

I’ve been kind of torn on going down to the memorial because I know a lot of people who lost someone there, but I am glad to have at least gone. The location is still under construction, but the fountains are a nice site for remembrance.

After the memorial we went to Times Square for the obligatory visit and then ventured back to the Upper East where we closed out their trip by rooting on the Seahawks at a local bar.

I’m so thankful my parents were able to come visit and spend Christmas with me. I had so much fun showing them around and hope they did as well!
