World Trade Center

It’s official. As of today, One World Trade Center has surpassed the Empire State Building as the tallest building in NYC and the U.S. It still has at least another year of construction until its completion, but today it rises high as a symbol to New Yorkers. In honor of the history that was made today, here is a clip of the construction of the building thus far.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, Wait a Second...

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, oh wait a second.. it’s a space shuttle riding in on a plane?! After a week of delays, Enterprise flew on the back of a plane today into its new home of New York City. It was a short flight from Washington D.C. to New York, but bystanders lined the shores of the Hudson River this morning to catch a glimpse of the shuttle’s last flight.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to escape the office to catch views of the shuttle in person, but I’ve been following the story on social media all morning and found some great photos courtesy of BuzzFeed to share. Enterprise will become a permanent display at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum by mid-summer.

When you think of New York you don’t usually think of the space program though so why was it chosen for its home? It turns out that New York state has actually produced more astronauts than most states in the United States! Enterprise was also the original prototype for NASA’s Space Shuttle Program, so having such an important piece of history is an honor to all of New York’s astronauts as well as citizens who have been awed by the space program throughout the years.

Mayer Hawthorne at Webster Hall

This week I headed off to another concert in the city! This time at Webster Hall for Mayer Hawthorne with the boys! Webster Hall is smaller than other venues I’ve been in the city and it made for a great view wherever you were standing!

I had only been introduced to Mayer Hawthorne this year and he’s a pretty cool artist. His music really has a touch of late 1970’s and 80’s, which is different than a lot of artists out there today.

Something he did that was pretty cool was take a pic of the audience for his Twitter and Facebook fans. Insert our little hands in the left corner! It was a great show and venue! Excited to share some of his music with you all soon :)
