I Met My Favorite Astronaut!!!
Guess what, I met my favorite astronaut!!! Okay, okay, so he actually might be the only current astronaut I really follow, but that’s beside the point. Chris Hadfield is the name, and he. is. such. a. cool. dude!!! If you keep up with my blog, you may remember me posting about him earlier this year. He just released a book called An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth and is creating a media storm promoting it.
When I found out he was coming to New York, I knew I HAD to be there! No and, ifs, or buts. And so that is just what I did! The Barnes and Noble was packed to hear him be interviewed and then they opened up questions for the audience. It’s kind of cool to see the audience that he captures because it’s so diverse. You have the super smart science group who obviously follow him for his research and advancements, and then people like me, who know very little about space but who got hooked through social media. The really cool part about it is he is such a personable guy and finds a way to be approachable to everyone.
Originally I thought I’d just go to hear him talk, but then I decided how could I not get a book signed! I’ve never been to a book signing before, but Chris set the bar high. I was at the tail-end of the group, but he still took the time to talk to everyone and pose for photos. Personally, I don’t think I could smile that many times, but he didn’t skip a beat!
I’ve never been star-struck but I must say, I was so excited! Not crazy school-girl status, but not too far off! Can’t wait to read the book!
