Food-Trucking We Go

What’s more awesome than a normal food festival? A food truck festival of course! Lucky for us, South Street Seaport had us covered this weekend with more than 20 food trucks! I’ve never been a huge food truck junkie, but now that we randomly pick up the food network channel (it’s pretty much the only channel I watch) I’m learning that food trucks are one of the latest food trends. They come up with some pretty unique and amazing food too!

So on a food truck quest we went! The normally retail lined streets of South Seaport were instead lined with food trucks of every nationality imaginable and behind that, the long lines of people.

And when I’m talking long lines, I mean LONG lines! A couple food carts had lines that were a couple of blocks long. One truck in particular, Korilla BBQ, probably had the longest line. It wasn’t until I got home and googled them when I realized they are on Food Network’s, "The Great Food Truck Race". So keep your eyes out for them on the show! Darcy ended up deciding on a Korean BBQ truck for some tacos and I headed to get my cheese on at Gorilla Cheese NYC. After about a half an hour wait, I got to eat a delicious grilled to perfection cheese sandwich and mac and cheese bites, complete with a sweet tea to drink.

After we got our grub on, we headed further down the port to check out the rets of the festival and listen to some live jams. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday!
