My friend Jimmy has been adventuring through the city for the last couple of weeks and we finally got a chance to meet up and hang out for a night before he headed back to Washington. We ended up catching, “How Do You Know” at the movie theatre after work, which ended up not being as good as I had hoped. It turns out a great cast still doesn’t make a great movie these days. It was fun nonetheless though and we grabbed a hot dog at Papaya King next to the movie. On the way back to my apartment we also had to grab a slurpee at the 7 eleven. I’m not sure what’s been going on with me, but I’m starting to have a serious slurpee addiction. And I’m talking serious. I’ve had 4 within the last week! Worst yet, I’m drinking these while it’s in the 30’s I’m not sure that makes much sense, but I’m going to roll with it.
It was nice to hear about the places Jimmy got to check out while he was here and talk about the differences in living here vs back home. He’s thinking about moving over here this summer so I did my best to give him a crash course on everything I’ve learned so far and tips that I wish I would have known before!
Jimmy’s visit was good timing too.. because… in the morning we had two HUGE bugs that I now know were Palmetto bugs. I’d link to them, but am going to leave it to you to Google them if you want to see. All I can tell you is I have never screamed so loud in my life. There was one upside down on the floor by the sink that was half dead that I was freaking out about so when I asked Jimmy to kill it he said, sure just get me some paper towels. So, I grabbed the dispenser and started to pull down the paper towels when another bug flew at me and landed on the edge of the paper towel. I literally think I potentially woke up everyone who lived in my building. Out came the roach spray and thank God Jimmy was there to kill them and then carry out the trash bag they were in.
We contacted our management company and hopefully they will have our apartment sprayed over the weekend, because who is going to kill them the next time when Jimmy isn’t here?! AHH!! Not me!! That’s all I have to say. All and all, it was a nice to have an old friend in town and catch up on my new life.
