First an Earthquake, Now a Hurricane
As you may have heard from the news Hurricane Irene is headed straight at the tri-state area like a bullseye. New York just can’t catch a break this week. First a record-breaking earthquake and now a record-breaking hurricane. The news is wild.. stores look like they’ve been robbed.. people are fighting over bottles of water.. and on my way home I’m pretty sure I saw a lady have a full-blown panic attack screaming bloody murder into the streets.
I feel like I’ve been put right in the middle of an apocalypse movie. Even scarier? They are completely shutting down the MTA, New Jersey Transit, and the airports tomorrow afternoon. Meaning, when I say we’re stuck here, we really are. None of us our from around here though so we don’t have anywhere else to go. That is the disadvantage about being so far away from your family that actually cares about your well-being..
Thank you to all of you who have emailed, called, or had the east coast in your prayers this week as we prep for this storm. Am I scared? Yes. Darcy and I stocked up on water, batteries, candles, flashlights, and food. Along with our card game skills :) All we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best, from the great words of Mayor Bloomberg.
