A DIY Halloween
Speaking of getting ready for winter early.. I’ve also been planning my Halloween costume since, well the middle of September. This must also be a sign of aging, the lack of procrastination.. Whatever it may be, I think I’m okay with it.
By the third week of September I had come up with two different options, and I finally settled on a decision last week. I am going to be a sparkly pink owl :) I found a cute children’s DIY costume that I thought was cute and am going to try out their technique (in a bigger size of course!)
I went to Michaels and picked up different colors of pink felt, a mask, ribbon, foam for my owl mask, and glitter! The next step was finding a dress that I wouldn’t mind sewing my feathers on, so Goodwill around the corner was the obvious choice. I scored a dress for $6 and was onto cutting duty. Now I have all of my feathers cut out and I’m working on the sewing part, which is going to take awhile. It’s times like this a sewing machine would be helpful. I can be patient though, really I can!
So I will have to keep you posted on my progress. I still have a few details to work out, but I’m excited for how it is going to turn out. Plus, I don’t think there will be too many pink sparkly owls roaming the streets of New York this year.
Oh and the best news too? I stopped by forever 21 this weekend and found the perfect pink tights to go along with my costume! I’m talking the perfect shade of pink. Cannot wait! More fall adventures, including a trip to the pumpkin patch on the way for you this weekend!
